For organisations still using Exact Globe Next, 2026 is an important year.
In March 2026, Exact released the final full service pack for Globe Next. A supplementary service pack for Dutch payroll updates will follow in the summer. From now on, new functionality and new legislative developments will be further developed in Exact Globe+. Exact has indicated that it will continue to provide support for Globe Next via its support department until the end of 2027, with the exception of Payroll and e-Invoicing.
The obvious question for many organisations is therefore:
When are we switching to Exact Globe+?
But as far as we are concerned, there is a second question that is at least as important:
What should we do with all the software that has now been developed for Exact?
Exact rarely stands alone
In many organisations, an ERP system has long since ceased to be an island.
In addition to Exact, systems such as a CRM, online shop, WMS, planning software, HRM solution, BI platform or industry-specific applications are used.
Sometimes these systems are connected directly to Exact. Sometimes files are imported and exported. Sometimes bespoke software is used. And sometimes staff still enter data manually from one system into another.
That application landscape has often evolved over the years.
A migration from Globe Next to Globe+ is therefore a good opportunity to look not only at Exact itself, but also at the way in which Exact communicates with the rest of the organisation.
From migration to integration strategy
Globe+ is the successor version on which Exact is being further developed. Among other things, Exact highlights new developments relating to electronic invoicing that will only be available in Globe+.
However, switching to Globe+ does not automatically mean that the integration landscape surrounding Exact is future-proof.
There’s an opportunity there.
Instead of rebuilding existing links one by one, you could start by taking stock:
- Which applications are currently exchanging data with Globe Next?
- What data is sent back and forth?
- What manual processes still exist between systems?
- What bespoke couplings have been built over the years?
- Which applications do we want to add in the coming years?
In that case, the switch to Globe+ becomes more than just a technical ERP migration. It presents an opportunity to redesign the connectivity surrounding Exact.
Globe+ as part of a best-of-breed landscape
This is in line with a trend we are seeing more and more often: best-of-breed.
Furthermore, the ERP system does not need to handle every business process itself. For each process, an organisation chooses the software that best suits its own way of working.
For example, Exact can form the financial and ERP backbone, whilst other applications specialise in CRM, logistics, e-commerce, planning or reporting.
The challenge then shifts.
Not every system needs to be able to do everything.
Above all, the systems must be able to communicate effectively with one another.
And that’s where Clickker® | The dedicated API for Exact comes in
Clickker was developed as an API for Exact and is compatible with Exact Online, Exact Globe, Globe+ and Exact Financials.
In an on-premises Exact environment, Clickker runs on the server on which Exact is installed. No external database is required to which Exact data must first be copied or synchronised.
The connection remains direct:
External application ↔ Clickker ↔ Exact
The connection to Exact is one-to-one, and there is no limit on the number of API calls to Clickker.
This creates a REST API for external applications, making Exact functionality accessible.
Do not automatically include existing links
Particularly when migrating to Globe+, we would therefore advise against simply transferring existing links on a one-to-one basis.
A solution that was necessary years ago may no longer be the best option today.
Perhaps data is still being exchanged via files, even though this can now be done via an API. Perhaps a bespoke integration contains business logic that would be better managed centrally. Or perhaps staff are still carrying out tasks that could be fully automated.
Using Clickker, we provide API access to Exact. CAS can then be used to configure the workflows and business logic between applications. And Watcher can be used to monitor those integrations and processes.
This not only creates a new Exact environment, but also an integration landscape that is ready for further expansion.
The migration to Globe+ is therefore also an opportunity
The end of further development of Globe Next does not mean that organisations have to completely overhaul their application landscape.
But it is, in fact, a logical time to take a critical look at it.
Which systems are connected to Exact? What data do they exchange? What manual steps remain? And how do we intend to expand that landscape in the coming years?
By taking these questions into account during the migration to Globe+, you can prevent old integration choices from being automatically carried over to a new environment.
And at the same time, it creates scope for a ‘best-of-breed’ strategy in which new applications can be added to Exact much more easily.
So don’t just migrate your Exact environment. Take a look at the connections around it as well.
Ultimately, that is what Sense-Cloud is all about: the integration specialist for Exact software.
